CASTIGLIONE OLONA BETWEEN INDUSTRIAL ARCHEOLOGY AND RENAISSANCE ART
This experience in Olona Valley is one of the most fascinating and eclectic ones since in the first path it combines the landscape along the river Olona with its water birds in contrast with the industrial archeology, so the memory of a thriving textile industry born in the 19th century and of its steam-train railway called Valmorea. The second path will lead us to Castiglione Olona, a Renaissance village founded by the Cardinal Branda Castiglione. His dream was that of creating a cultural and artistic center, a kind of Pienza in Lombardy. This is the reason why he called the well-known painter Masolino da Panicale to decorate the church of Santo Stefano and Lorenzo, where we will recognize the mountainous landscape around the Olona valley
